Fears partners with Ace on new De Stijl-inspired watch
The Brunswick 38 De Stijl Edition merges British design and Dutch art in a hand-wound edition available exclusively through Ace Jewelers and Fears’ own boutique.
Fears and Ace Jewelers now present the Brunswick 38 De Stijl Edition, a mechanical watch inspired by the clear lines and bold colours of the De Stijl movement. The collaboration connects Ace Jewelers in Amsterdam with Fears in Bristol, and the model is offered as an exclusive release through the two retailers. The project blends British watchmaking heritage with Dutch design culture, and the De Stijl influence is visible in both geometry and colour.
The watch measures 38 millimetres and is crafted from polished 316L stainless steel. The cushion-shaped case has no flat surfaces, and the polishing is carried out to a standard usually associated with precious metals. The white lacquer dial is made in Germany, where multiple layers of lacquer are combined with precise printing in black, blue, yellow, grey and red.

The Brunswick 38 De Stijl Edition uses a manual La Joux-Perret D100 movement with a 50-hour power reserve. The calibre can be viewed through the open caseback, which also displays the watch’s individual serial number. The model is water-resistant to 100 metres and wears lightly due to its proportions.
The black strap is handmade from Himalayan buffalo leather. The material is tanned using traditional methods without modern chemicals, which gives the leather a more natural and durable structure. The inside is lined with deep blue Alcantara, and the buckle is a new Fears design with an engraved logo.
Brunswick 38 De Stijl Edition and the De Stijl influence
The De Stijl movement is associated with universal forms and abstract expression. Fears allows geometry and colour to shape the dial layout while maintaining functionality within the composition. Design Manager Lee Yuen-Rapati describes the idea as follows:
“While the dial may appear completely abstract, functional elements such as the hour markers can still be found hidden in the corners of each of the black rectangles. The design embodies De Stijl’s ideals of universality within distilled abstraction”, explains Lee Yuen-Rapati (Fears).
The skeletonised hands are produced in Germany. The hour and minute hands are black, while the seconds hand is white to ensure legibility against the square subdial. The colours follow the geometry of the dial and create a calm visual impression despite the bold palette.
Price, availability and presentation
The price is EUR 3400 excluding taxes. The Brunswick 38 De Stijl Edition is sold exclusively through Ace Jewelers and Fears’ boutique in Bristol, and each watch carries an individual serial number engraved between the lugs at twelve o’clock.
The watch is delivered in an Amos box made from solid ash wood. The interior is lined with cream suede, and the lid is discreetly engraved with the Fears logo. The box is based on historical Fears designs and opens with a chrome-plated push button.
