GWC YÖ is a new limited edition watch with 50 pieces
GWC YÖ Limited Edition has been developed with a focus on night-time legibility and clear colour transitions. The watch is launched in 50 pieces and features an automatic movement and a domed sapphire crystal.
GWC YÖ Limited Edition marks a new release in a rectangular format with a strong emphasis on light, contrast, and surface treatment. The model is produced as a limited series of 50 pieces and takes its name from the Finnish word for night. The watch is designed with a luminous dial that changes character in dark environments.
The case is made from black DLC-coated stainless steel and measures 33 x 40 millimetres. Thickness is listed at 11.15 millimetres, with a lug-to-lug length of 46 millimetres. The proportions create a compact and distinctive presence, placing the watch in the modern dress-watch segment.
The dial is finished in turquoise with a fumé gradient and a guilloché-style texture. The surface is treated with BGW9 Swiss Super-LumiNova, producing a strong luminous effect in low light. Hands, logo, and crown feature black C3 lume elements to enhance contrast.
GWC delivers the watch with either a black or turquoise FKM rubber strap. The strap is paired with a black DLC-coated butterfly clasp and can be easily changed. This allows the wearer to adjust the look of the watch without tools.
GWC YÖ and the focus on light and contrast
GWC YÖ is powered by the Japanese Miyota 9039 movement with a black rotor developed exclusively for the YÖ edition. The movement is visible through the sapphire exhibition caseback and supports a clean layout without a date display. The choice of movement keeps the construction simple and reliable.
The front crystal is domed sapphire with anti-reflective coating. Water resistance is rated at 5 ATM, equivalent to 50 metres. This makes the watch suitable for daily use without shifting its visual focus. The price of the GWC YÖ Limited Edition is listed at approximately DKK 5,900, excluding local taxes and duties.
The first production run is limited to 50 watches. Each piece is hand-assembled, with an estimated delivery time of around two weeks. Sales are handled directly through the manufacturer’s webshop.
Limited production and growing interest
Limited production has become a key element for many smaller watchmakers. GWC positions the YÖ model in a segment where exclusivity and visual identity matter more than volume. The combination of a luminous dial and a rectangular case sets it apart from more traditional releases.
Interest in alternative shapes and materials continues to grow among collectors. GWC YÖ aligns with this trend through its focus on night-time readability, contrast, and technical surfaces. The model demonstrates how small series can be used to explore new expressions in contemporary watch design.
