Vintage Watches in 2025: Which Models Are Hot?

The vintage watch market has seen explosive growth in recent years, and 2025 is no exception. Several classic models have risen sharply in price, while new collectors continue to look for entry-level pieces with history and value. Rolex dominates the vintage market

Rolex remains the most sought-after name in the vintage segment. In particular, the Rolex Submariner ref. 5513 and Submariner ref. 1680 are highly valued. The ref. 5513 was produced for nearly 30 years and exists in many variations, making it a favorite among both new and seasoned collectors. The iconic GMT-Master “Pepsi” ref. 1675 is also gaining interest, especially examples with original patina and untouched dials.

Omega Speedmaster – still the “Moonwatch”

The Omega Speedmaster Professional is another unavoidable classic. Early models with caliber 321 are among the most coveted, as they were part of NASA’s Apollo missions. Later versions with caliber 861 also hold their value well, particularly when accompanied by the original box and papers. For many, the Speedmaster is the entry point into vintage collecting, combining history, design, and accessibility.

Heuer Monaco and Autavia

Motorsport collectors have long focused on the Heuer Monaco ref. 1133B, made famous by Steve McQueen in Le Mans (1971). The watch has cult status, and original examples are now rare. The Heuer Autavia from the 1960s and 1970s is also on the rise, especially models powered by Valjoux chronograph movements.

Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet

In the high-end category, the Patek Philippe Nautilus ref. 3700 – designed by Gérald Genta in 1976 – remains a top choice. Considered the beginning of the luxury steel sports watch, it now trades for millions. Early Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ref. 5402, also designed by Genta, are likewise among the most iconic pieces in 2025.

What unites the most popular vintage models is authenticity. Collectors prefer watches with original dials, hands, and cases over restored examples. Patina, scratches, and natural aging are seen as qualities that add soul and document a watch’s history.
